Bankruptcy: What To Bring to the Meeting
The most frequest question I get asked by clients scheduling the initial meeting is: "What do I bring with me?" The answer is that you should bring the following:
- Monthly Expense Sheet (Print and Fill Out)
- Copies of Paystubs Representing your Average Monthly Income
- Questionnaire (Print and Fill Out)
- Valuation of Vehicles (Fill Out and Print a trade-in Value for Each Car)
- Valuation of Home
- Principal Balance(s) on Mortgage(s) (Usually found on monthly statement)
The purpose of the first meeting is to get a good overview of your financial situation, so that I may determine whether bankruptcy is right for you.
Bankruptcy: Petition Preparation and Filing
Preparation of the bankruptcy petition depends on the thorough review of key financial information. You will need to do the following:
- Log on to www.MyCaseInfo.com with the information I sent you in the e-mail and fill out the online questionnaire.
- Take a Consumer Credit Counseling Class from an Approved Vendor.
- Assemble Important Documents from the list that I gave you.
- Assemble all income records for the six months leading up to the month you expect to file the bankruptcy, which will be compared to the Median Income in New Jersey for your household size.
- Obtain a Valuation of All Your Vehicles (Fill Out and Print a trade-in Value for Each Car)
- Obtain an appraisal or comparative market analysis of your home (and any other real estate you may own).
Once you have done all of this, schedule an appointment to meet with me.
